nLIGHT Introduces Ultrafast Fiber Laser for Microfabrication Applications

Date: Mar 17, 2014

nLIGHT Corporation (nLIGHT) has announced the release of its picosecond Pulsed Fiber Laser (PFL). The PFL is an economical solution for emerging laser material processing applications that require high peak power and short pulse widths, such as thin film patterning and scribing.

Compact and air-cooled, nLIGHT’s PFL delivers 250kW peak power and 10W average power with pulse durations of 50ps. The all-fiber architecture offers outstanding beam quality and long-term reliability to meet the rigorous uptime demands of 24/7 manufacturing environments.

“nLIGHT has successfully demonstrated several microfabrication applications including P1/P2/P3 CIGS scribing, transparent conductor patterning, Li-ion cathode dicing, and specialty metal marking and engraving,” said Michael Atchley, Director of Product Marketing at nLIGHT. “These processes take advantage of the PFL’s high peak power and short pulse width to perform highly selective ablation for precision micromachining.”
